Marcus LaPratt is the Artistic Director of DCC and has music degrees from Albion College and the University of Florida. He has taught music in private and public schools at both K-12 and university levels.
From 2007 to 2015, he was Minister of Music at Dearborn First United Methodist Church, and for eleven years Marcus has worked at Greenfield Village as singer, performer, and as music director. Since September 2015, Marcus has worked at Milford Presbyterian Church (MPC) as the Youth Director, working with 6th through 12th graders, and in June 2016 also became the Music Director at MPC.
For 15 years, Marcus was the Executive Director of Singers Of United Lands - an organization that he founded to help develop international relationships through vocal music from around the world.
Marcus has traveled to 42 countries, most because of singing opportunities. In 2007, Marcus broke the Guinness World Record™ of “Longest Singing Marathon by an Individual” (75 hours)! In June, 2015, Marcus began paddling the entire length of the Mississippi River (2,311 miles) in segments. He has completed more than half of The River and hopes to continue the next phase of this adventure in Summer 2019. He has also kayaked nearly half of the longest river in Switzerland and plans to complete the other half during his next visit.
He and his wife Sylvia have three daughters Lina, Teya, and Anya.
